As the month of August draws near in Germany, it’s not uncommon to see many local restaurants, shops, and even doctor’s offices close their doors for several weeks at a time – the Schulferien (school holidays) are underway, and it’s Urlaub (vacation) season! Germany’s generous paid leave means that many families and individuals are also able to take a few weeks off in the summer for travel or relaxation.
In diesem Sinne, Sprachmelodie will also be on pause for the next few weeks, with a planned return in early September. However, I’ve put together a Sommerspaß (Summer fun) playlist to accompany you on whatever adventures the Ferienzeit may bring you, whether you’re home or on the road.
Die sonnige (sunny) Playlist features a few familiar summer tunes including Blau and Erdbeerkuchen, as well as music from previously featured Sprachmelodie artists such as Bruckner, Clueso, Namika, Bosse, Glasperlenspiel, and Johannes Oerding (among others).
If you have a few minutes this summer, I’d love to get to know you better through the Sprachmelodie Reader Survey, especially as I plan for the months ahead. And if you need even more German music in the weeks to come, don’t forget about the Sprachmelodie archive and Featured on Sprachmelodie playlist.
Liebe Grüße und euch einen schönen Sommer!!
Jessica
